Compared to the second movie, this one doesn't really do much to contribute to the show's plot other than cover how Sakura got a few of the Clow Cards that the TV series doesn't explore. However, both these elements are a bit lackluster as the movie only digs briefly into exploring them as the movie villain was only used to fill in more time for the movie and Li's mother served only to provide a couple scenes of support to Sakura.

The movie introduces Syaoran's family and an old acquaintance of Clow Reed serving as the movie's antagonist. Noticeably, the series seems to have benefited from its movie format presentation-wise as character designs looked better polished and animation was a bit more fluid in movement compared to the TV series. This movie delivers with the same stuff I had enjoyed from the TV series such as the teasing of potential relationships, Tomoyo's obsessive admiration in Sakura and Sakura's continuing quest to get the Clow Cards.
